Industry vs artisan culture - The concept of narrow in Artigian Culture

In the early Middle Ages windows were simply openings in the wall, that admitted wind, and even glazed windows were poorly insulated. Thus builders often made windows rather narrow to minimize drafts and loss of eath.

Windows in a castle in the middle ages were rare. On the second floor, where the royal family stayed, there might be a few windows to not spread eath. The only other window like things were small openings in the wall for arrows to be shot at enemies.
